The day 2 of the Sydney test has started off with both Pujara And Vihari on the crease ready to start their proceedings. India were 303/4 when the second day of play started. Hanuma Vihari, the overnight batsman, failed to add much to the total and got out off just 42 runs while trying to sweep Nathon Lyon’s ball.
Pujara, on the other Hand, continued his supreme form and started to bat from where he ends on day 1. Pujara, in no time, with his sensible batting brings up his yet another 150 run score. He started his day with a cover drive and after reaching his 150 run milestone he milking way the bowlers with his classy shots. The Australian bowling attack seemed clueless in front of Pujara.
After scoring 193 runs, Pujara got dismissed by Lyon while tried to play the ball by using his feet and ended up giving a simple catch back to Lyon which ended up Pujara’s another epic and marathon knock.
After Pujara’s wicket, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja started to thrash Australian bowlers all around the Sydney cricket ground. Rishabh pant, who scored 159 not out and become the first Indian wicket keeper batsman to score a hundred in Australia. In his Inning of 159, Pant showed us a mixture of calmness and aggression both. This time he played sensibly yet aggressively. He tried to hit the ball along the ground which helped him to spent more time on the crease and as a result, he brings up his highest test score that too against the mighty Aussies and remained unbeaten till the end.
Jadeja also gave full support to the young Pant and displayed his matured and sensible version of batting. Jadeja got out to Nathon Lyon on 81 and Kohli, the Indian captain declared the innings on 622 runs. Jadeja’s wicket also full stopped record 204 run partnership for 7th wicket which is the highest partnership for the 7th wicket in Australia ever.
There were 10 overs left in the day when Australian openers started to climb the impossible looking mountain of runs. There was an opportunity for India to get the first wicket of Usman Khwaja who was dropped on 0 by Rishabh Pant and therefore both the openers survived the heat of last 10 overs.
On the 3rd day, it will be interesting to see how Australians play their role. If they want to win this test match from here, they need to try out every possible thing otherwise 3-1 victory for India will be on boards soon.
